New York State is facing a climate crisis and a crisis of inequality. Intensifying storms, floods, heat waves, wildfires and more are threatening New Yorkers’ safety. At the same time, many New Yorkers struggle to afford basic services and access high-quality careers that sustain their families and communities. New Yorkers need good jobs, affordable electricity, and climate-safe communities.
Tackling the dual crises of climate change and inequality is an opportunity for New York to build the equitable, climate-safe economy that New Yorkers need. Building this economy will create tens of thousands of jobs in construction, buildings, energy, transportation and other sectors. CJI is providing the research and information to help NYS build at the scale and pace science demands, create high-quality union careers, and expand access to these careers for frontline communities.
